Are you done yet?
The biggest problem with writing a book isn't knowing how much longer to keep going, it's knowing when to stop. Writing in a book long after it's finished, just because you're afraid it's not good, isn't a good idea. If you don't think it's ready yet, then either have another person read it, fresh eyes can do wonders for you. Or put it in a dark drawer for about a month, and then go back to it with new perspective. You're to close to the book now, take a step back and you'll be fine.

Rangers apprentice book review
The one thing all writers have is a love for books, and I am no different. One of my favorite books are the rangers apprentice series by Australian author John Flanagan. He has this great way of writing where he includes so much detail that it feels like you are actually in the books themselves. He is both a great writer and great of thinking of stories. If you need Inspiration on a daily basis, then read any of his books, and post comments about your thoughts on them to my blog.

The sketchbook
Whenever I have an idea that I feel I can put in my book, I write it down. When you're brainstorming, it can be hard to remember what you think off later on, so write it down write away in a notebook or journal or on the shower wall, do whatever you want. Just remember that inspiration can be a very fickle mistress, so make sure you write it down every time you see her.

Keep on marching
When I write a book, I hate every word that I type. It's the way of the world. The first draft of all books suck, so if you're feeling down about that, don't be. You just can't make the mistake of going back to fix those mistakes. The most important thing to do, is just keep marching on and writing. Then, when the first draft is finished, you can go back and fix everything.

Editing is a heartless $@&$@@$!
You know that feeling? The one filled with relief and accomplishment at the very end of the writing process? Well don't get used to it. Behind every writer is an editor who won't make you feel good about yourself, but without them, our books would just suck. When someone else reads your book, expect criticism. And if there Isn't any, well that person is lying. Because there is always something your book needs. What does yours need?

Procrastinating puppy
It's my dog's birthday today, and he is three. He is an English springer spaniel, his name is Finn, and he is super cute. He is also very hungry, as you can see from the picture below. He is the number one cause of all my procrastinations, of which I have many when it comes to writing. What procrastinations do you have? I'll bet there not as cute as mine.

Brainstorm
It is my experience that the best way for a person to get new ideas about writing is very simple, read other books. There is no such thing as a brand new concept when it comes to writing, so don't feel guilty about writing something that seems similar to something you read. Just don't copy it completely and makes sure that it is unique in its own way and you'll be fine. I like fiction books, like Harry Potter and Eragon. What books give you inspiration?
